A look at how Ice Age humans used the asphalt that bubbles up from the La Brea Tar Pits (hint: they used it in much the same way that we do today, for waterproofing, as an adhesive, and in decorative items). Included are early weapons, fishhooks, repaired stone and abalone tools, and a waterproofed basket - all excavated from the Tar Pits. The exhibition shows how, from its earliest times, the cultural and natural worlds have profoundly affected each other.
