I would like to offer another option. During our Thanksgiving Supper Train I was told (again) how someone tried to get tickets for our Christmas Train but had heard we were sold out. I thought I'd go online for a bit and let people know that we still have tickets, but that we are one of two trains in the Sacto Area. The State runs a great Polar Express train in old town and they are sold out, I believe.
Meanwhile, we're a private railroad that operates between Woodland and Sacramento called the Sacramento RiverTrain. I also run the Skunk Train (Fort Bragg & Willits, CA) and the Sierra Railroad Dinner Train (Oakdale, CA). Our RiverTrain that departs out of Woodland (15 minutes from Sacto). We offer an outstanding Christmas Train with musicians, storytellers, playful elves, hot cocoa & cookies & Santa during a 90-minute train ride. Our tickets are $31 adults and $24 children. We started hosting Christmas Trains 10 years ago and we have a huge following with about 100 departures every December. We started hosting our Christmas Train on the RiverTrain a in 2005 but we have a very modest advertising campaign so its hard getting the word out. And, unfortunately, wefrequently get confused with the Museum's operation this time of year due to the similarity. We do have availability still on many trips.
