Morrison Nature Center is your gateway to discovering Aurora’s true nature. Consult our library of field guides, reference books, and natural history favorites; enjoy the birding at our songbird feeding stations, or peruse our seasonally changing exhibits on local plant and animal life. Costumes, blocks, puppets, kids’ books, and live animal exhibits make Morrison Nature Center for kids, too.

Tips

Our trail system is open daily, 5 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Wetland Loop (.74 miles): Explore a forest of stumps, snags and stately cottonwoods in the company of mule deer, turtles, and meadowlarks. Great for families; no dogs, bikes, or horses please.
Creekside Trail (1.5 miles): Add a wild stroll along sand creek to your daily routine. Great for joggers, families, and dog walkers; pets must be on a leash. Protect water quality and clean up after your pet.
Sand Creek Greenway Trail (up to 13 miles): Walk, bike, jog, or ride a horse along a peaceful ribbon of cottonwoods, willows, and open prairie. This soft-surface, regional trail connects to the South Platte River Greenway via Sand Creek Park, Bluff Lake Nature Center, Stapleton’s Central Park, Commerce City’s Wetland Park, and Pepper Riparian Park. Dogs must be on a leash. Please pick up after your pet.
