See live, non-releasable California wild animals closer than you can imagine. Hawks, owls, eagles and other birds of prey perch overhead. Go eye-to-eye with a fox, bobcat, opossum, coyote or other native mammals. Snakes, toads, turtles and other reptiles and amphibians are just around the corner. A replica of Mt. Diablo's balancing rock showcases plants and animals that are found in nearby open spaces.

We decided to venture out of the fog of the city and head to the East Bay. This wildlife museum is great and the scavenger hunt was a hit with my kids! The museum is situated in a park that is great for running around and picnicking. Definitely worth a visit.

This museum is the perfect place to have a membership if you have a child 5 years old and under. You can enjoy a nice picnic in the park, play on some playground stuff, then go look at the animals. It is small and yet packed with fun things to look at. There is a lovely gift shop, a "touch and feel" room and docents that often take the animals out for you to view up close.
